Exhibition Overview  

As part of the ongoing Art & Politics Series, Internationalism: Art as an Expression explores the powerful role of art as a catalyst for change in society. This month-long exhibition brings together a dynamic collection of local, national, and international artists whose works reflect shared global concerns and aspirations. Through visual storytelling, symbolic representation, and experimental media, the exhibition highlights how art transcends borders—serving as a universal language that connects people, challenges perspectives, and inspires dialogue.

EXCLUSIVE LIVE MEDIA EVENT:

During the Opening Reception on Thursday, 6th August 2026, the legendary radio presenter Valerie Stewart will be live on-site conducting exclusive, in-depth interviews with the featured artists. These high-profile interviews will be recorded live and broadcast nationwide on the UK DAB Radio Network, bringing the voices and political insights of these extraordinary artists to a national audience.

Featured Artist Profiles (To Be Interviewed by Valerie Stewart) 

● Bruce Atherton (United Kingdom): A highly distinguished British contemporary painter and former official portrait painter for the Vatican. Moving away from classical portraiture, Atherton presents three major landscape masterworks that reframe the relationship between borders, land, and spiritual authority.

● Dave McGinty (United Kingdom): A legendary British peace activist and foundational voice in the global climate change and Palestine peace movements. His raw, conceptual works reflect decades spent on the frontlines of global resistance.

● Fiaza Youssef Saeed Al Rabi (Palestine): A groundbreaking contemporary artist creating powerful visual narratives directly from the occupied Palestinian territories, offering an unfiltered perspective on identity, cultural memory, and steadfastness under occupation.

● Alex Cragg (United Kingdom): A veteran peace activist and creator of London’s most iconic, battle-tested demonstration banners, elevating street activism into monumentally scaled textile fine art.

● Shaila Winklaar (The Netherlands): An elite Dutch visual artist, academic lecturer, and cultural educator whose multi-layered work brilliantly analyzes Eurocentric border policies and cultural education.

● Roberta De Cara (Italy): A master Italian glass sculptor transforming fragile, rigid glass mediums into fluid, striking political and social statements.

● Ima Amu (Nigeria): A leading Nigerian contemporary voice exploring post-colonial migration, wealth disparity, and the depths of African global identity.
